The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) members are the strength of our association.

Your time, talent, and expertise guide the organization and advance the specialty of ambulatory care nursing. Plus, volunteering has both personal and professional benefits for members as well. Find below open and active calls for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer in a group not listed below, please contact the National Office.

Selection Process
Volunteers are selected during an open call for volunteers, which happens various times of the year. Members are asked to submit their CV and may need to complete a questionnaire to be considered. All members of volunteer groups are selected by the Chairs with input from the Board Liaison based on their expertise and other factors that contribute to the success of the volunteer group. Volunteers who are not selected are added to a list to be considered for future groups.

Leadership Opportunities
AAACN is committed to developing, supporting, and recognizing volunteer leaders. We encourage volunteers to pursue leadership opportunities and have a defined pathway to serving on the Board.

Call for Journal Manuscripts
We are excited to announce a call for manuscripts for our upcoming journal, the Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing (JACN), which will launch in 2025. JACN will be the leading publication in the field of ambulatory care nursing, dedicated to advancing ambulatory care evidence-based nursing practice, research, education, and leadership. The Editorial Board is seeking original research manuscripts of case studies, reviews, and perspectives that explore various aspects of ambulatory care nursing.

Call for Advocacy Committee members
To address legislative issues, nurses must be aware of the power we have as respected professionals to influence health care policy. Our goal is to encourage nurses to take advantage of the power we have in numbers and influence to affect the shaping of healthcare policy and to become politically active in the legislative process. The Advocacy Committee is seeking new members to help further the goal of shaping healthcare policy. Members meet monthly and collaborate in a variety of ways, including reaching consensus on which legislative initiatives to support on behalf of AAACN, seeking opportunities for proactive advocacy on behalf of ambulatory care nurses, writing ViewPoint articles, and more.
