The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® has been strongly linked to improvement of workforce and patient outcomes through the integration of the Magnet model as a vehicle for nursing excellence (Barnes et al., 2016; Friese et al., 2015; Lal, 2020; Stimpfel et al. 2016).
AAACN is fully committed to advancing our efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We are actively redesigning our governance infrastructure to ensure the future leadership and membership of AAACN is as diverse as the environments we proudly work and live within.
Additionally, AAACN’s DEI Committee continues to work to create opportunities and resources our members can utilize in their own practice.
The Advocacy Committee also develops position statements on important legislative issues that affect your practice and patients, and is a source of information for legislation that will have an influence on how ambulatory care is provided in this country. Learn more below about our advocacy efforts and how members can get involved.
On February 22, AAACN held the 2023 Virtual Leadership Symposium, Shaping Care Where Life Happens. This Symposium was held as a thank you to our volunteers and to build our leaders. The goal of this year’s symposium was to provide them with leadership development opportunities, professionally and within AAACN.

AAACN has long prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), actively reshaping our governance to mirror the diverse environments we serve. The first step was establishing the DEI Committee, which has now evolved into the Inclusion and Belonging Committee.
