The Role of the RN in Ambulatory Care Nursing Position Statement and Paper Revision Task Force, led by Chair Aleesa Mobley, PhD, RN, ANP-BC, CPHQ (pictured left), and Co-Chair Jean Bernhardt, PhD, MSN, NEA-BC, CNP (pictured right), recently released the updated Role of the RN in Ambulatory Care Nursing Position Statement.

It clarifies the role, the additional value it brings, and the benefits it offers in terms of patient outcomes, both through independent and collaborative nursing practice in the ambulatory care environment.

The statement serves to foster a sense of clarity and self-assurance regarding one's individual contributions as an RN while harmonizing perceptions of their professional scope. This updated position statement provides a concise yet meticulously evidence-based overview of the ambulatory care RN's responsibilities, with the aim of inspiring recognition and appreciation for the role and scope of these nursing professionals.

The updated position paper will be published in the November/December issue of Nursing Economic$ and will be shared on the AAACN website in January 2024, and a session about the updated paper and statement will be offered at the e 2024 Annual Conference.
