The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) occasionally invites members to assist the association in meeting their goals by volunteering to serve on a task force. Members are informed of new volunteer opportunities via email as new projects and initiatives are established. Work is accomplished via conference calls, screen sharing platforms, and email.

Purpose
In May 2025, AAACN will hold its 50th Annual Conference in San Diego May 20-24, 2025. AAACN current and past leaders are working on a variety of projects to commemorate the special milestone, including a publication and a ViewPoint article laying out AAACN’s history, a new legacy scholarship, and celebratory events to take place at the conference.

Core Curriculum for Ambulatory Care Nursing Revision Task Force
Purpose
The Core Curriculum is one of the most essential, foundational textbooks available for ambulatory care nursing. It provides the latest in-depth knowledge across the continuum, and it is used by nurses to prepare for the ambulatory care nursing certification exam, and as a resource for training and continuing education. This book adds tremendous value to your practice, providing a deeper, broader knowledge spanning all aspects of the specialty, as well as knowledge critical for nurses' leadership, education, and research success.
AAACN has commissioned a new Task Force to revise the Core Curriculum for Ambulatory Care Nursing, 4th Edition, published in 2019, and create the 5th edition, which will include changes and progress within the industry, particularly within telehealth arena.

Nurse-Sensitive Indicator Industry Report Revision Task Force
Purpose
The Nurse-Sensitive indicator Industry Report (NSI) articulates the value of nursing’s contributions by measuring elements of patient care and patient outcomes that are directly affected by nursing practice. They can be measures that reflect structure and process of care such as volume, RN demographics, and staffing metrics. The identification and measurement of NSIs is critical in describing the contributions and value of RNs in ambulatory care settings.
AAACN has commissioned a new Task Force to revise the original NSI Industry Report published in 2016 to include changes and progress on industry, NSIs, and meaningful benchmarking and strategies for enculturation into nursing practice in ambulatory to date.
