The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) members are the strength of our association.
Your time, talent, and expertise guide the organization and advance the specialty of ambulatory care nursing. Plus, volunteering has both personal and professional benefits for members as well. Find below open and active calls for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer in a group not listed below, please contact the National Office.
Selection Process
Volunteers are selected during an open call for volunteers, which happens various times of the year. Members are asked to submit their CV and may need to complete a questionnaire to be considered. All members of volunteer groups are selected by the Chairs with input from the Board Liaison based on their expertise and other factors that contribute to the success of the volunteer group. Volunteers who are not selected are added to a list to be considered for future groups.
Leadership Opportunities
AAACN is committed to developing, supporting, and recognizing volunteer leaders. We encourage volunteers to pursue leadership opportunities and have a defined pathway to serving on the Board. All volunteers are provided administrative support from the National Office and are invited to attend the annual AAACN Leadership Symposium.
We are excited to announce a call for manuscripts for our upcoming journal, the Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing (JACN), which will launch in 2025. JACN will be the leading publication in the field of ambulatory care nursing, dedicated to advancing ambulatory care evidence-based nursing practice, research, education, and leadership. The Editorial Board is seeking original research manuscripts of case studies, reviews, and perspectives that explore various aspects of ambulatory care nursing.
AAACN is seeking passionate authors for the 5th edition of the Core Curriculum for Ambulatory Care Nursing—the key reference for our specialty. Guided by Editors Caroline Coburn, Edtrina Moss, and Dawn Vonderheide, authors are currently writing and collaborating on chapters covering crucial topics like emerging clinical issues, telehealth, and leadership. As soon as their final drafts are completed, reviewers will begin their work. Applicants should hold a BSN or higher, have relevant experience with the chapter content, and ideally have prior writing experience. The estimated time commitment for this work is a few hours per week over the course of a few months. Apply by Thursday, May 15, at 11:59 pm Eastern. As part of the application process, you will also be asked to submit your current curriculum vitae/resume.
